At certain periods of time, cuff links were worn by any respectable man with a suit. Men in the youngest generation of suit wearers, however, may not own a pair of their own cufflinks (and sometimes not even their own suit). If I were a 75 year old man, I might tell you what a shame that is and how men were real men back in my day…but I am not, so I won’t. It is worth a mention though, that cuff links are still applicable in certain situations such a black tie events, at important meetings, and when you are trying to out-dress your boss. Note that in order to wear cuff links, you must also have french cuff shirts–these shirts have holes at the sleeves for the cuff links to go through instead of buttons.
You can blow your wallet on these little guys or find affordable stand-ins as well, but always remember to look reasonable and coordinate. Here’s a look:
